Kabusecha, just like Gyokuro, are shaded before the harvest, but slightly differently, depending on the type of Kabusecha produced. This gives the tea a certain tartness, that is more subtle than the one found in Sencha. The present tea is made from the subvariety Saemidori that has a pleasant sweetness to it.
Character:
A gentle tea, whose pleasant slightly grassy notes are underscored by a subtle tartness and a fine taste of umami.

Description:
An excellent Gyokuro from the region of Hoshino, with a very full umami taste (typical for the teas from Kyushu), at the same time very balanced, which probably results from the variety that has been used, i.e. Yabukita. Yabukita is usually used to make Sencha, but when well made, as it is the case here, a beautiful Gyokuro can be the result.
