Water or tea kettle, completely handcrafted by Seikado in Kyoto. The pattern, here a cedar pattern (Japanese sugime), is created with hammer blows (Tsuchime in Japanese). It is made of brass, silver-plated on the inside, smoked and polished on the outside. The handle is wrapped in wisteria rattan. Can be used on conventional stoves (not suitable for induction) as well as on gas, petrol or charcoal fires. Does not tarnish. The simple shape is restrained and harmonised, the pot itself is surprisingly light. A first-class piece of Japanese craftsmanship.
