  1. Tonkännchen Yixing Julei Zhuni

    Tonkännchen Yixing Julei Zhuni
A small teapot for the Gong Fu Cha, coming from Yixing (Yixing Zishahu), 230ml.

Julei means chrysanthemum bud and refers to the shape.

    Artist: Huang Guoqiang

    The clay used: Zhuni vermilion

A Yixing clay that only occurs in very small quantities. This clay is a clay from the 1980s. It differs from all other types of clay in that it is extracted less as ore and more as sludge and is more water-soluble. This requires special methods in the preparation of the clay. During firing, the composition leads to a dense clay with high shrinkage. Of course, this also has an effect on the tea prepared in a zhuni. It behaves more like porcelain, which means less attenuation of flavours and low heat capacity. We find this clay particularly suitable for high-quality younger Pu Er, delicate, complex Oolong and elegant black teas.
